This project came completely out of the blue. I bought the fabric for another project that I had in mind but that idea never came to fruition.
I’ve had this old ottoman that was part of a living room set from way back. It was beat up, stained and just plain old ugly. I forgot to get a good “before” picture but you can tell from the photos below that it was in rough shape. I don’t know what I was thinking when we bought it. That was back in a time when I didn’t really think about the value of things before purchasing. Oh, how times have changed.
I completed the makeover in an afternoon. It was a pretty easy job. I just measured all of my parts, cut my fabric to size leaving extra for seam allowance, laid the fabric pieces inside-out over the ottoman, then pinned the pieces together and sewed away.
I will probably go back and sand and re-stain the legs. But I’m very happy with the outcome so far. It has definitely come a long way. Even the kitty likes it!
Anyone breathe new life into an old piece of furniture, lately?
